Homeless criminals and drug addicts open shop near you!

Homeless criminals and drug addicts open shop near you! Yes its true all over the country this group of people are being encouraged to set up shops where you live.

Its not a lie or even an exaggeration, and could easily be a news headline. But is it the whole picture and does it put the true story forward, or does it promote a stereotype that is designed to generate a certain response.

If you was to read on you would learn that Emmaus Superstore Sheffield is one such shop. Emmaus works with people from all backgrounds, but primarily those from a homeless and/or socially excluded background. It take people with no or little retail experience and supports them to work and run retail business'. Not only do they achieve this, but in most cases excel at it.

Here are some of our customer feedback's to consider when thinking about these headlines;

"Great table and really helpful with my collection! Thanks guys!"

"Nice machine great communication many thanks"

"Organised and helpful pick up as always, lovely, thank you. X"

"Good item. Most obliging people to collect from. Thank you very much. +++"

"Item collected in person. The people I dealt with were great. Thank you!"

"The prices were good and the staff were very helpful."

"I've had 2 great sofas from here and the staff were so friendly and helpful, went over and above to squeeze in a next day delivery for me"

These are just a small sample of the many reviews and comments we receive from our customers, it is easy to cherry pick reviews to support a point, but out of almost 3000 reviews, feedback and customer surveys the staff in our retail business score 100% in the area of customer service.

During a social returns survey it was found that for every £1.00 sent on Emmaus £11.00 in social savings are made. What this means is for every £1.00 it cost to run an Emmaus community the government and local authority save £11.00 in benefits, policing, healthcare and social problems.

So next time you read a headline that at first may make you concerned it might just be worth reading a bit more, because it might not be as clear cut as you think.
