This is our entry for the Ocean Finance competition, 'make a house a home'. We were sent a plain birdhouse, to upcycle into a home.

Our Bird Spirit house

All the materials are foraged from the forest floor of Padley Gorge, Burbage Brook Nr Sheffield. Buddly Crafts were the stockists for the additional items needed, glue. vanish, etc.

The roof is moss and lichen covered tree bark which is living. The sides and back are covered in silver birch bark panelling made from an old Roman blind. Each side says something different....

The design on the bark at the front looks like a water fall, one side if you look closely you can make out the face of a Buddha, the opposite side looks like a stream pool and the back like sunlight shining through pines. The perch is a pine twig and the finials are small pine cones.

  1. This is wonderful! Would you consider doing another one and selling it?
